Example
An example assembly manual, made from a STEP file
The leader arm of an open-source robot arm, 91 parts, turned into a manual by Lineplate. The steps are the studio's own proposal and nothing was drawn or edited by hand. Open it the way your customers would.

What is in it
- The web build guide: 17 steps, one to a screen, each a hidden-line drawing of the parts going on, with a parts list of 8 items (the six servos are one item, quantity 6) and a picture of each. It is one HTML file of 1.4 MB with no scripts and nothing loaded from anywhere else, so it works offline, reads on a phone, and can go on your own site or be sent as a file.
- The PDF with the parts in colour: 7 pages. The lines and text stay vector and searchable; the colour sits underneath them. It is the same manual as the web guide, steps four to a page.
- The line-art PDF: the same 7 pages in black lines only, for print.
How it was made
The STEP file was opened in the studio, in the browser. The studio exploded the assembly, proposed the order of the steps, drew each step with its hidden lines removed, and laid out the pages. The only words typed were the title. You can do the same with this model: press “Try the example” in the studio. Manuals are part of Pro.
